Custom and personalized orders

We are happy to create custom letterpress printed goods with you! Please note that due to nature or letterpress, we cannot create a one-off or single print. After all that goes into getting the work ready to print is finished, it doesn’t make financial sense to only print one.

Letterpress is not a ‘cheap’ method of printing. There’s a lot of labor involved from designing, to mixing custom inks, to setting up the plates and getting them in place on the paper. If you are interested in, say business cards, know that you aren’t merely buying business cards. You are investing in your business and the growth of you business.

What are your capabilities?

We can create and print almost anything letterpress except broadsides. However, we can woodcut, linocut or screenprint posters.

We also offer diecutting, scoring, and edge painting. Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer foil stamping.

For fine prints and photographs, we offer custom matting and/or framing.

We can also do simple bookbinding.

What are your minimum order requirements for custom business cards?

To keep costs as reasonable as possible, our lowest quantity order is 150 cards. The more cards you order however, the lower the cost per card will be. One important thing to consider, letterpress printed cards are an investment in your business, not the cheapest alternative.

Is letterpress right for my project?

Letterpress is way different from hitting print on your computer. Each color, each side is its own printing plate. Each plate then has to be run individually on the press. And for every color and/or side, the plate and paper has to be put into the correct lined up correctly using incremental position changes to get the print in the correct place in the paper. Each ink color is hand-mixed and tested so that it is accurate to what the client wants.

Diecutting (cutting out a custom shape), scoring (so the card can be folded) are all run individually. So, let’s say the client wants a 2 color, folded card. That means three runs through the press! And all this doesn’t even happen until after designing and revisions.
